MEDIA DIRECTOR
Strategic and highly data driven media planner who also has buying expertise to join our team to direct digital, social and broadcast channel investments on behalf of our F500 clients. The right individual will produce consumer centric, media consumption based strategies plans. Be able to present plans to senior clients. Then direct the implementation across a variety of media channels, with and without support partners. (e.g. digital, OOH, shared/insert media, mobile, SEM, social, etc.).

This role requires collaboration with account, strategy, data/analytics, creative, clients and 3rd party partners. As a key team member within the strategy department, the Media Director will report directly to the VP of Strategy and also provide support to the Director of Strategy and Data Analysts.

Keys to the role:
The ideal Media Director will be a strategic and critical thinker who is highly informed and curious about consumer’s behaviors, needs, wants, and expectations from our client’s brands.

They will identify which media channels and platforms would best advertise a client's brand or product. This candidate will have a solid background of working within advertising agencies or media planning and buying agencies. They will have a proven track record of enabling their clients to maximize the impact of their advertising campaigns through the use of a range of media.
  • Interpret and evaluate client marketing objectives to ultimately provide relevant media recommendations.
  • Work with account management, strategy, data/analytics and/or external media agencies to determine appropriate media strategy and implementation including requirements around data collection and results review.
  • Analyze data from core 3rd party resources and client media agencies to produce insights and action points to improve media performance.
  • Develop client presentations and contribute to client meetings.
  • Support the account lead in identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling KERN services.
  • Share client and process learnings across the team to develop and improve best practices.
  • Train peers and associates in functional skills and media knowledge.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Marketing or Communications
  • 5+ years media buying, planning, research, or related experience across a variety of paid media channels is required. Direct response experience a plus.
  • Experience working on media monitoring platforms, DSPs, and other tools.
  • Strong understanding of and experience executing media strategy, planning and buying
  • Experience working at a media agency or internal media teams
  • Is extremely detail-oriented, comfortable working with data and developing detailed analyses
  • Excellent research and analytical thinking skills
  • Inquisitive and passionate about solving client’s business challenges
  • Innovative and creative thinker. Thinks outside of the box but can refine the strategy to what can be accomplished within the client’s timeframe and budget.
